baiacu
Baiacu, baiagu, toad, balloonfish or lola (although this term applies more to the zoological genus Takifugu) are popular names common to several fish of the order Tetraodontiformes, common in the fluvial fauna of South America and , More specifically, from Brazil. The term is used in current language to specifically designate species of this order that have the property of swelling the body when they feel threatened by a predator or other factor.
Use
As the puffer contains a poison gland, the consumption of its meat requires the previous withdrawal of the gland. Once the gland is removed, the flesh of the pufferfish becomes a traditional ingredient for sashimi.
