250 animals turned mummies into abandoned zoo in Palestine

250 animals turned mummies into abandoned zoo in Palestine

Seems more like a horror story, but unfortunately, it's true. More than 200 wild animals became mummies in a private zoo in Palestine due to conflicts in the territory of the Gaza Strip.

As reported by international newspapers and sites, the South Park Forest Zoo was established in 2007 in Khan Younis by businessman Mohammed Avayda. About 270 wild and exotic animals lived well in place, until the intense conflicts of 2014 in the region prevented zoo officials from returning there for routine care.

The result, as you'll see in the pictures below, was endless cruelty. Only 20 animals survived complete deprivation of food and water for days on end. The others, unfortunately, died and eventually became mummies due to the dry winds and the climate of Palestine.

Lions, tigers, monkeys, alligators and a multitude of other wild animals have ended up cloistered in their cages and the scenery that has settled in the old zoo is devastating, as you will see in the images below. The process of mummification began soon after the natural decomposition after death, which conserved, practically intact, the lean bodies of the animals that perished of starvation.
