Common carp


Cyprinus carpio (L.), popularly known as carp and common carp, is a teleost fish in the Cyprinidae family, silver gray color. Originating from large lakes and rivers in Asia, Europe and Africa, where wild populations face extinction, is widespread as fish breeding in various environments which can be considered invasive species.

Etymology
"Carp" originated from the German Karpfen through late carp Latin.

Characteristics
It has small mouth without real teeth, surrounded by short barbels; It feeds on vegetables and other substances. It is oviparous. You can be up to 100 centimeters in length. Its color varies from gray to silver.

Use

Group of ornamental carp
This species of freshwater fish, very popular, originating in China, is widely used in fish farming in the Old World, having been introduced in South America. It has regular quality meat. It is also very popular in the aquarium hobby, living well in external tanks and groups.
