The Boar-European (Sus scrofa), popularly known as wild boar (the DJABALI Arabic, meaning hillside pig), javardo, warthog, feral hog and pig-mountain (females are known as javelina and gironde), is a artiodactyl mammal, Suidae family, medium-sized and sturdy body. It is the best known and the main species of wild pigs.

It has broad geographic distribution, being native to Europe, Asia and North Africa. In recent times, it was introduced in the Americas and Oceania.

It is the ancestor from which evolved the current domestic pig (Sus domesticus or Sus scrofa domesticus).
